www.kerbela.info is a specialised website established by a group of young journalists aiming to create and collect different texts, photo and audio-video materials about Imam Hussain (as), his Ashura movement and Karbala tragedy and to provide answers to questions and doubts in related topics. The website is supported by the Facebook page, Instagram profile, Youtube and Telegram channels.

It is necessary to organize professional archives dealing with religious topics as online media prevails over television and print media today. In this regard the website is the first such event in its kind for Azerbaijani community.

Objectives

1. Introducing and popularizing Imam Hussain (as) and real Ashura values within all layers of society such as common people, intellectuals and academicians.

2. Providing the best and voluminous archive to preachers, laudators, and researchers in the field, especially for writers and journalists.

3. Providing media support for the events and ceremonies related to Imam Hussain (as).

4. Presenting true direction for mourning ceremonies and protecting them from distortions.

5. Inspiring the youth to struggle against invaders, protect homeland and strengthen their spirit of martyrdom.

Necessity

Despite its smaller scale Imam Hussain's (as) Ashura revolution was one of the most important historical event and imposed giant effect on different independence struggles subsequently and played indispensable role for keeping Islam alive.

For centuries Azerbaijani people and azeris all around the world have been bounded up with Ahlul-Bayt strongly and have commemorated the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (as) in memorable ceremonies with deep sorrow.

For centuries the memory of Ashura event has lived within different sections of shia muslim community of Azerbaijan in the forms of written literature, paintings or books. However there has not been any unique portal in which all the materials mentioned above had been included. In this regard we considered it necessary to establish an online portal related with Imam Hussain (as) and his Ashura movement.
