Abstract:

Imam Husayn, the grand son of the Prophet Muhammad, is one of the most respected men not only among Muslims but also among all those people who are struggling for real freedom. In the following, some verses of Quran about him has been collected to clarify his great soul more.

1. Pearls and Corals

"Out of them [the two seas] come pearls and coral". (The holy Quran, 55:22)

Imam Sadiq (as) said "Pearls and corals" refers to Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn. (Tafsir Al-Borhan, Vol.4, p.265. tradition.3)

2. The Firmest Tie

"…has grasped the firmest tie that will never break…. "(The holy Quran: 2:256)

Imam Baqir (as) narrated from the holy Prophet that he stated, whenever you want to grab a strong rope, grab Ali’s, Hasan’s and Husayn’s villayah. (Kamel Al-Ziyarah, Ibne Gholevayh, p.51, tradition.6)

3. The Great Success

" … Would that I had been with them! I should have indeed won a great triumph." (The holy Quran, 4:73)

Imam Riza (as) said, "O’ son of Shabib! If you like to be placed in heaven, accompany the holy Prophet and his family, and curse (and hate) Husain’s murderers. O' Son of Shabib! If you like to get the same rewards as those who sacrificed themselves for Imam Husayn, then say " oh! I wish I would accompany them and reach a great blessing and success." (Amali, Sadouq, p.130)

4. The Prophet ‘s Family

"Worship Allah and do not associate anything with him. Be kind to parents and near kinsmen…" (The holy Quran, 4:36)

Imam Sadiq (as) said, "Parents" here refers to the holy Prophet and Ali and "near kinsmen" refers to Hasan and Husayn. (Bihar al –Anwar, vol. 23; p.269)

5. Satisfied Soul

"O satisfied soul, return to your lord well pleased, well pleasing." (The holy Quran, 89:27, 28)

Imam Sadiq: "Recite 'fajr' sura in your obligatory prayers, and note that it is the sura of Imam Husayn (as)."

Abu Osman was present at the session, and asked:

How is it related to Imam Husayn? The Imam answered, "Hussayn is the one whose soul is clam. God is happy and satisfied with him; and he is happy and satisfied with God. (Bihar al – Anwar, Allameh Majlisi, vol. 44, p. 218)

6. A Glad Tiding for Husayn (as)

"O fire, ' we said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham" (The holy Quran, 21:69)

Imam Sadiq (as) narrated from Imam Husain (p.b.u.h) that he said before his martyrdom in Karbala:

The holy Prophet (saaw) said, "O’ My son! You will go to Iraq one day and will be killed there. A group of people will be killed along with you and then he recited the mentioned verse saying: war will become cold and safe for you. Then Imam gave good news and said," By God! If they kill us, we will join the holy prophet. (Bihar al- Anwar, vol.45, p.80, tradition 6)

7. Good News

"Give good news to the believers who do well that they shall have a goodly reward" (the holy Quran, 18:2)

Ibn Abbas (ra) narrated from the holy Prophet, good news of residing in the Divine Heaven for Ali, Jafar, Aghil, Hamzeh, Fatemeh, Hasan, and Husayn because they were the examples of those who did good deeds. (Bihar al- Anwar, vol.41, p.17, tradition. 10)

8. Moon and Sun

"And the moon when it follows the sun, and the day when it shows it" (the holy Quran, 91:2-3)

Imam Sadiq (as) said: "This verse refers to imam Hasan and imam Husayn and "the day when it shows it" refer to imam Mahdi’s uprising. (Bihar al-Anwar, vol.24, p.73, tradition 6)

9. Couches of Honor

"The righteous shall indeed be blissful, (reclining) upon couches they will gaze," (the holy Quran, 83:22, and 23)

It has been narrated from ibn abbas this verse is about imam Ali, Fatemeh, Hasan and Husayn. (Managhib, vol.4, p.2)

10. Why Did You Kill?

"When the buried female infant is asked, for what sin she was killed" (the holy Quran, 81:8, 9)

Imam Sadiq (as) said, the above-mentioned verse refers to Imam Husayn. (Bihar al- Anwar, vol.23, p.255, tradition 6, vol.44)

11. The Trumpet

"On the day, the shiverer shivers, followed by the succeeding" (the holy Quran, 79:6,7)

Imam Sadiq (as) said, "The shiverer shivers" refer to Imam Husain. (Tadvil al-ayat, vol.2, p.762, tradition 1)

12. Kahf Story

"Or, do you think that the fellows of the cave and the inscription were of our wonderful signs?" (The holy Quran, 18:9)

Menhal said, I swear God I was in Damascus, I saw head of Husayn on one spear reciting Quran saying "more wonderful than Kahf‘s story is the story of my murder and carrying my head on a spear. (Ta’vil al-ayat)

13. Wests

"The lord of the two easts, the lord of the two wests." (The holy Quran, 55:17)

Imam Sadiq (as) said about this verse: ''Easts refers to holy Prophet and Ali and wests refers to Imam Hasan and Imam Husayn (Bihar al-Anwar, vol .24, p.69, tradition 2)

14. Purity Verse

"Allah only desires to keep away the uncleanness from you, o people of the house! And to purify you a (thorough) purifying" (The holy Quran, 33:33)

There are numerous traditions regarding infallible imams who said Ahlul-bayt refers to 5 pure members (Ali, Fatemeh, Hasan, Husayn, Prophet) (Amali, Sheikh Sadoogh, p.473)

15. Imamate

"He made this an abiding word among his descendants, in order that they would return." (The holy Quran, 43:28)

Holy Prophet said, God appointed imamate in the dynasty of Husayn and nine others imams are from him. (Tafsir Nor al-Saghalein, vol.4, p.297, tradition 26)

16. "I Do Not Ask Of You Any Reward"

"…say: I do not ask of you any reward for it but love for my near relatives…" (The holy Quran,42:23)

The holy Prophet (saaw) has been asked what does near relatives mean in this verse. He said, Ali, Fatemeh, Hasan, and Husayn. (Shavahid al- Tanzil, vol.2, p.194)

17. On The Way Of Hajj

"So he left, fearful and vigilant" (the holy Quran, 28:21)

When Imam Husayn (as) went out of Medina to Mecca, he recited the mentioned verse. (Irshad, vol.2, p.35)

18. Quran Reciter

"The wrongdoers will surely know which turn they will be returning to (hell)." (The holy Quran, 26:227)

It is said when they cut the head of Imam Husayn (as) and put it on a spear he recited this verse. (Tafsir-bohon, vol.3, p.194, tradition 5)

19. Prostraters

"And when you turn among those who prostrate themselves." (The holy Quran, 26:219)

It is narrated from Imam Baqir (as) who said, this verse refers to Ali, Fatemeh, Hasan,Husayn and their families. (Ta’vil al-Ayat, vol.1, p.396, tradition 23)

20. Far from city and home town

"Those who have been unjustly driven from their homes, just because they said: 'our lord is Allah" (the holy Quran, 22:40)

Imam Sadiq (as) said: ''This verse is about Ali, Jafar, and Hamze and manifested in Husayn, peace and calmness to them all. (Bihar al-Anwar, vol.44, p.219, tradition 9)
