By an anonimous poet:
The day of Ashura
The route was changed, Hussein knew his fate
But Abbas was brave, that was Ali’s trait,
The camp arrived Karbala, sands scorching and days so long
72 fought thousands which showed few righteous stayed strong.
Zainab wailed for help, Sakina begged Abbas for water
The one wish from a young girl and an innocent daughter,
But water never reached and tents were eventually burned
Heat and hatred killed souls and on that day lessons were learned.
Akbar fought bravely, yet Hussein cried with a heavy heart
His back was broken when he saw Abbas completely torn apart,
Zainab yelled with watery tears on the hot sands of Karbala
The skies wept for Hussein, the angels suppurated on the day of Ashura.
The river was blocked and constant arrows were fired
Yet after generations, thousands of hearts are inspired,
Zainab stood up for Hussein, Abbas stood up with conviction
Quraysh fought on the day with bravery although enemies caused affliction.
Hur made the right choice, Aun fought without looking back
The day skies turned red and the hearts of enemies turned black,
Enemies looked beastly whilst Hussein led with the Prophet’s beauty
There were only 72 but Hussein fulfilled his promise and his given duty.
But time passed, Hussein’s body was laid with no shame
Enemies snatched clothes and torched tents with heated flames,
Zainab stood with Sakina looking at Medina for inspiration
She looked at the skies knowing she was the best of creations.
Ladies were chained, children were dragging
Sands were burning, enemies were bragging,
But Zainab spoke and men were humiliated and ashamed
Islam was saved and the enemies were publicly blamed.
Hussein’s name changes personalities and is being uttered by billions
His shrine stands tall and is being visited by multi ethnic millions,
Times like these keep the foundation united with love and kindness
Begin early morning prayers to be accepted whilst asking for success and forgiveness.
The light of the right showed strength even in the darkness of nights.
A brave knight led an army of 72 to cause thousands to eventually flight.
